It's been a busy and exciting New Year for Bloom and we were thrilled to start the 2013 wedding season with Robin & Dan. You might remember these two familiar faces from our Perfectly Set contest from
The Southern Suite. They were one of our lucky couples who won a fun day of pampering and pictures back in the warm days of summer (
here)
Now it was time for these two to have their real wedding day, and what a stunning day it was. It was a dramatic change from the humid, summer days walking in long grass and orchards, but the snow and cold didn't put a damper on their fun or excitement for the day. You can see the love and joy of these two shining though (even though Robin must have been wishing for Long John's under her gorgeous dress!)
When we were building the bouquets for this big day, we wanted to concentrate on the flower choices and how they would hold up with the cold temperatures, but also, wanted to keep everything soft, pretty and feminine to match Robin's look. Tulips, roses, orchids, freesia, ranunculas and a few detailed wooden flowers held up beautifully. The soft grey touches of dusty miller and brunia helped bring the winter look into the fresh bouquet nicely.
I just loved working with these too, for both the Suite shoot and for their big day. I have known Robin since we were little girls (we were the youngest kids hiding in corners with our sisters for the family gatherings!) They were so laid back and trusting, it was so fun. Dan was such a great sport too, even when along with his groomsmen, we found them stranded and locked out of the venue in the blistering cold! (Good thing this florist drives a big, warm truck for the boys to all climb in while they waited for the girls!)
Thank you for being such a fun couple to work with, Robin and Dan. I wish you all the best in your exciting future together. Thank you Steve and Linda from
