Wendy & John

We had such a great time working with Wendy and her family as they planned their big day last fall. Wendy had a few favorite flowers in mind but knew she wanted one thing for sure, a full bouquet with a cascade and lots of sparkle.

We filled her bouquet with some of the most classic wedding choices, big white lilies, orchids, roses and mini calla lilies, and then hung strands of pearls and iridescent beads. To give it the soft touch Wendy was looking for we tucked in a few tuffs of white feathers too.

This couple and these families know how to have a good time for sure, and were such a great group to work with. Thank you for letting us help with your big day Wendy and John. We had a great time and wish you all the best! Congratulations!

Robin & Dan

It's been a busy and exciting New Year for Bloom and we were thrilled to start the 2013 wedding season with Robin & Dan. You might remember these two familiar faces from our Perfectly Set contest from The Southern Suite. They were one of our lucky couples who won a fun day of pampering and pictures back in the warm days of summer (here)

Now it was time for these two to have their real wedding day, and what a stunning day it was. It was a dramatic change from the humid, summer days walking in long grass and orchards, but the snow and cold didn't put a damper on their fun or excitement for the day. You can see the love and joy of these two shining though (even though Robin must have been wishing for Long John's under her gorgeous dress!)

When we were building the bouquets for this big day, we wanted to concentrate on the flower choices and how they would hold up with the cold temperatures, but also, wanted to keep everything soft, pretty and feminine to match Robin's look. Tulips, roses, orchids, freesia, ranunculas and a few detailed wooden flowers held up beautifully. The soft grey touches of dusty miller and brunia helped bring the winter look into the fresh bouquet nicely.

I just loved working with these too, for both the Suite shoot and for their big day. I have known Robin since we were little girls (we were the youngest kids hiding in corners with our sisters for the family gatherings!) They were so laid back and trusting, it was so fun. Dan was such a great sport too, even when along with his groomsmen, we found them stranded and locked out of the venue in the blistering cold! (Good thing this florist drives a big, warm truck for the boys to all climb in while they waited for the girls!)

Thank you for being such a fun couple to work with, Robin and Dan. I wish you all the best in your exciting future together. Thank you Steve and Linda from Personal Expressions Photography for the awesome pictures of the day and for sharing your work. Check out the rest of this couples beautiful day here with a great video from Jared Falk.

The Southern Suite - Chantelle and Jon

The Southern Suite collaborated for the second shoot of the Perfectly Set contest where two beautiful couples were voted our lucky winners. Chantelle and Jon were our couple of the day and they were such a treat to work with.  (We worked with them at Bloom prior to this shoot for their stunning wedding, so it was fun to do this little project with them again!)

The shoot took place in a enchanting location where the willow trees hung romantically around our styled tablescape. The table was styled with a palette of grey, soft pink and metallics. The vintage china, elegant stationery (designed by Des of Paper Airplanes) and delicate flower arrangement and bouquet we designed helped create a stunning backdrop to our beautiful couple.

We dressed the table with a soft mix of flowers to match the linens. Lilies, hydrangeas, orchids, snapdragons, and texture garden-like greens complimented the soft tones and shiney metals so nicely.

Chantelle wore a romantic strapless mermaid gown provided by Bliss Bridal Boutique in Winnipeg. A custom handmade fascinator designed by Kari of Dove Tree Art & Design was pinned amongst her chic braided updo by Kim at Shear Bliss Salon and Day Spa and Chantelle's look was polished off with soft, romantic make up by talented makeup artist Audrey of Glo Makeup Studios.

Once the table was set and the couple was ready, we let the fabulous ladies of Jack & Ruby Photography and Lani Elias Fine Art Photography do their magic. And with this location, this couple and the whole team pitching it, it felt like magic!

Chantelle's bouquet was slightly understated to not compete with her glamorous look, but we added a few subtle accents to give it something interesting. Gorgeous Cool Water roses, soft Dusty Miller, vintage oversized grey pearls, knotted lace, orchids and sedum made up the majority of the handtie. It's soft, subtle palate was feminine and delicate and matched the style so well.

Thank you again to all of the vendors of The Southern Suite for helping making this shoot so enjoyable. It's a real treat to work with such fun professionals from the area. Chantelle and Jon, it's always a great time working with you. Congratulations on your beautiful wedding and all the best.

The Southern Suite - Robin and Dan

We have been waiting oh-so patiently to share these pictures from The Southern Suite's photoshoot from a few months back. We are delighted to share them on our 2 year anniversary at Bloom, what a great gift! :)

The Southern Suite is a collection of wedding vendors all working in Southern Manitoba. To introduce our team of vendors, we ran a contest where couples submitted their love stories and were voted on for the publics favorite. Robin and Dan were one of our lucky winners and what a treat to work with. I am so excited to work with them for their upcoming wedding!

The bouquet in this shoot was designed to be something with loads of unexpected elements and an atypical shape.  Fresh Apples (we are the home town of the Corn and Apple Festival after all) succulents from our local greenhouse, berries still on the branch, droopy calla lilies, amaranthus, fall coloured leaves, and more rich coloured beauties. It was so fun to create.

We hauled out lots of pretty things from the store to set up our location too. The birdcages were a must for the overgrown bush. The vintage table was from one of our loyal customer's Grandma that she graciously lent us. The stunning dress was the perfect addition. I can't say enough great things about Lore at Bliss Bridal in Winnipeg for letting us have our pick of her stunning dresses for the shoot.  What a fabulous shop!!

I could go on for a VERY long time about the team of overly talented ladies that work for the Suite, but the work I believe speaks for itself.
